The population of the Republic of Kazakhstan on January 1, 2008 according to the specified data was 15 571, 5 thousand people including urban population – 8 265, 9 (53.1 percent), rural – 7 305, 6 (46.9 percent). Compared to the data on January 1, 2007, it has risen by 174, 6 thousand people, or by 1.1 percent. Over this period population growth was registered in all the regions except Akmolinskaya, Kostanaiskaya, Northern Kazakhstan and Eastern Kazakhstan regions. The maximum total population growth was registered in the Southern Kazakhstan – 49, 0 thousand people, and the maximum total population decline in the Eastern Kazakhstan – minus 7, 1 thousand people.
The natural population growth of the republic in 2007 accounted for 163 666 people (144 546 – this figure and the below ones showed in brackets are the data for 2006). The crude natural growth rate accounted for 10, 6 (9, 4) individual per 1, 000 population in 2007.
According to the Registry Office data as for 2007, 321 963 (301 756) births were registered and this figure has risen by 6.7 percent, compared to 2006. Over this period 165 543 boys and 156 420 girls were born, or the sex-ratio at birth was 106 boys for 100 girls. The crude fertility rate accounted for 20.8 (19.7) births per 1, 000 women.
The number of died accounted for 158 297 (157 210) person including 92 385 (100 526) persons in urban settlements and 65 912 (56 684) persons in rural settlements. Over this period 90416 males and 67 881 females died, or the sex-ratio at death was 133 males for 100 females. The crude mortality rate accounted for 10, 2 (10, 3) deaths per 1, 000 population.
The principal causes of human death are diseases of blood circulation system which share in 2007 made 51.7 percent (51.9 percent), accidents, poisoning and traumas – 14.2 percent (14.6 percent), tumors – 11.5 percent (11.6 percent) from all registered deaths.
4 646 (4 154) deaths of infants under one year old including 2 744 (2 397) deaths of boys and 1 902 (1 757) deaths of girls were registered for 2007. The infant mortality rate accounted for 14.6 (13.9) per 1, 000 live births. The principal causes of infant death are the state appeared in the perinatal period from which 2187 (2060) death of infants were registered, or 47.1 percent (49.6 percent) from all infantile deaths.
In 2007 the number of marriages and divorces increased up to 6.7 percent and 0.8 percent correspondingly as compared to 2006, and accounted for 146 379 (137 204) for the first and 36 107 (35 834) for the latter. The crude marriage rate was 9, 5 (9, 0) per 1, 000 population. The crude divorce rate stayed unchangeable on the 2006 level and accounted for 2.3 divorces.
The positive migration balance of the population in 2007 accounted for 10 962 (33 041) person, 2 846 (26 364) of which fall on migration with the CIS countries. The number of immigrants accounted for 53 397 (66 731), the number of emigrants – 42 435 (33 690).
Among those who arrived to Kazakhstan the proportion of Kazakhs accounted for 78.2 percent (73.0 percent), Russians – 12.5 percent (14.0 percent), Germans – 1.0 percent (0.9 percent). Among those who departed Kazakhstan the share of Russians accounted for 69.5 percent (67.4 percent), Germans – 7.1 percent (7.3 percent), Kazakhs – 5.3 percent (6.8 percent).
